Baby in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Infant, Newborn, Holding a baby, Breastfeeding a baby, Being given a baby
What it means
A gift of God, a blessing, divine providence, a promise or a prophecy (Psalm 127:3).
The age of the baby: baby dreams should always be assessed by the age of the baby. An infant is a newly found gift that requires care and nurturing, which is why an infant is expected to be carried. A child represents an assignment finding its own ground. Carrying a grown child represents an over-pampered assignment, carried when it should be standing on its own.
Feeding or breastfeeding a baby: in a good, colourful, peaceful and joyful dream, a ministry being cared for and nurtured. A grown baby being offered milk instead of food represents a matured person or assignment that still wants to live off foundational doctrines instead of the steak of the Word.
Breastfeeding a baby with the face of a grown-up: in a gloomy, dark or night-time dream where you feel something is wrong, a form of witchcraft trying to take away from your life and from your increase. Rebuke it in Jesus’ Name.
A baby crying: crying that calls you to attend to the baby is an assignment needing attention; crying that pulls you away from what you should be doing represents a distraction.
A sick, injured or dying baby: the health of an assignment, or a literal warning to pray for a neglected promise or prophecy.
Losing or forgetting a baby, or leaving it behind: neglected responsibility.
Finding an abandoned baby: being handed an assignment that someone else abandoned.
Being given someone else’s baby: being entrusted with an assignment that used to belong to someone else.
A baby that talks or walks early: in a colourful, peaceful and joyful dream, accelerated growth or maturity. In a dark or gloomy dream, a demonic spirit in disguise: deception.
A baby boy or a baby girl: a baby boy represents a ministry, the work a person performs in service to God, whether spiritual (church) or vocational (career or business). A baby girl represents an endowment: giftedness, a gift of grace, a skill.
Being given a baby by a deceased spiritual giant: a legacy being handed over to you that you are required to grow, provided the deceased does not speak to you in the dream (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
Being given a baby by a stranger: in a good, colourful and peaceful dream, a spiritual handover of a gift or assignment. When the stranger is faceless, the stranger represents an angel or the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 13:2). A stranger with a face is a reason for caution.
When the baby or the stranger wears black or faded clothes: clothes that have lost their colour through destitution point to an attack on your destiny (Revelation 12:4). Cancel the dream agreement, the receiving of the baby.
A baby with the face of a grown-up: an evil entity you might have accepted, provided you received the child into your arms. If you did not take the baby into your arms, no agreement was made.
✦ When it is positive
- Stewardship: a God-given responsibility to grow something
- A babe in Christ
- Humility, dependence and trust (Matthew 18:3-4)
- Someone who is not yet matured spiritually, to be nurtured
- A ministry or gift being cared for and nurtured
⚠ When it is a warning
- Spiritual immaturity: needing milk, not solid food (Hebrews 5:13)
- Instability in doctrine (Ephesians 4:14)
- An attack on your destiny (black or faded clothing)
- Witchcraft or a disguised evil entity (a baby with a grown-up’s face in a dark dream)
How to tell the difference
Weigh the atmosphere first: a colourful, peaceful and joyful dream points to a gift or assignment; a dark, gloomy or night-time dream in which something feels wrong points to deception or attack. Then note the baby’s age, who handed it over, whether the giver was faceless, and whether you received the baby into your arms. Cross-reference Male Child (ministry) and Female Child (personal gift) for the type of gift.
