Fig Tree in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Fig leaves
What it means
A sign that summer (a jubilant, rejoicing, harvest season) is near; also marks the sign of end times and Israel.
✦ When it is positive
- A jubilant season of harvest approaching
- A sign of end times and Israel's role
⚠ When it is a warning
- Hypocrisy — the fig tree that has leaves but no fruit; appearance of godliness without substance
- Fig leaves sewn together — religion: covering shame by our own effort (Genesis 3:7), in contrast to God's covering through blood, the garments of skins (Genesis 3:21)
How to tell the difference
The fig tree can produce fruit before leaves or simultaneously — making it the biblical symbol of hypocrisy. See Mark 11:13.
Scripture
32“Now from the fig tree learn this parable: When its branch has now become tender and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is near. 33Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that he is near, even at the doors. 34Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things are accomplished. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
