Jacob's Ladder in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Ladder to heaven, Stairway to heaven, Ladder set on earth

What it means

Heaven's influence over the affairs of men; divine ascension and a heavenly portal.

The Kingdom's influence upon the earth's affairs.

The ladder was set up on the EARTH and its top reached heaven, and the angels ascended first — the traffic begins from the place where the dreamer is lying.

✦ When it is positive

Spiritual connection between heaven and earth
Angelic activity
A place discovered to be the gate of heaven

⚠ When it is a warning

An ascent the dreamer cannot reach
A ladder set against the wrong place

How to tell the difference

Jacob was asleep on a stone in a place he thought ordinary. A dream of this kind often declares that God is present in a situation the dreamer had written off. Distinguish this from an ordinary Ladder, which concerns progress and climbing.

Scripture

¹⁰Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. ¹¹He came to a certain place, and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. He took one of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep. ¹²He dreamed and saw a stairway set upon the earth, and its top reached to heaven. Behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. ¹³Behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, “I am the LORD, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. I will give the land you lie on to you and to your offspring.
