Millstone in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Nether millstone, Upper millstone, Grinding stone, Ilitye lokugaya, Ilitye lokusila, Imbokodo
What it means
A trade, a skill, or the ability to earn a living.
Hard work that produces a livelihood. To take a man's millstone in pledge was to take his life in pledge, because it was the means by which he ate.
The silence of the millstones in Scripture marks desolation — the ceasing of ordinary life and provision.
✦ When it is positive
- Earning a living
- The ability to supply one's own needs
- A trade or family trade in operation
⚠ When it is a warning
- Something hard to break
- Resistance
- A hardened heart
How to tell the difference
If the millstone is in someone's home it represents that household's trade or livelihood. If it belongs to a particular person it represents that person's livelihood. The nether millstone is the fixed lower stone, and Job uses its hardness as a picture of a heart that will not yield.
Scripture
No man shall take the mill or the upper millstone as a pledge, for he takes a life in pledge.
Deuteronomy 24:6 (WEB)

Jeremiah 25:10 (WEB)
