Rooftop in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: On the roof, Roof of the house, Housetop, Standing on the roof

What it means

The house represents the dreamer's life as a public display; the home represents the family as a public display. For a Christian family this is a testimony to the Lord, making them His witnesses.

The roof signals protection — one's own, and one's family's.

What ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. The rooftop is the place of public declaration.

✦ When it is positive

  • A testimony openly displayed
  • What was spoken in secret proclaimed upon the housetops

⚠ When it is a warning

  • No secrets — what is done there is seen

How to tell the difference

WHATEVER IS DONE ON THE ROOFTOP, THE WORLD IS WATCHING. If it is raining or a storm is coming and there is NO ROOF, the matter is spiritual submission: being unsubmitted to God or to spiritual leaders leaves a person outside spiritual covering. Note whether the roof is intact, absent, or being climbed onto.

Scripture

What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops.

Matthew 10:27 (WEB)

Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Luke 12:3 (WEB)

When you build a new house, then you shall make a railing around your roof, so that you don’t bring blood on your house if anyone falls from there.

Deuteronomy 22:8 (WEB)
