Watchtower in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Tower, Fortress tower, Watch tower, Watchman's tower
What it means
Spiritual watchfulness, spiritual preparedness and prophetic vigilance.
The prophetic office. The watchman stands where he can see further than those below, and is answerable for what he does with what he sees.
Habakkuk set himself on the tower to watch and SEE what God would say to him — the tower is a posture of waiting as much as of seeing.
✦ When it is positive
- Spiritual watchfulness and preparedness
- Sharp spiritual perception
- Looking out from a watchtower, representing hope and expectancy of God's salvation
⚠ When it is a warning
- A watchtower set against the dreamer, representing being monitored by a person or a spiritual entity
How to tell the difference
Feeling watched FROM a tower represents monitoring by a spiritual entity — unless the watcher is someone known to the dreamer, in which case it may be a caution regarding that person. Standing IN the tower is the prophetic posture; standing UNDER it while another watches is surveillance.
Scripture
He cried like a lion: “Lord, I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime, and every night I stay at my post.
Isaiah 21:8 (WEB)
I will stand at my watch and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.
Habakkuk 2:1 (WEB)
6But if the watchman sees the sword come and doesn’t blow the trumpet, and the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’ 7“So you, son of man, I have set you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warnings from me.
