Waterfall in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Falling water, Cascading water, Cataract

What it means

Divine power, deep flows of the Holy Spirit, refreshing from God and spiritual renewal.

Spiritual relief; a distinct move of the Spirit; God bringing revival.

Because the waterfall descends from above, it pictures what originates in heaven rather than what is worked up from below.

✦ When it is positive

Revival from above
A powerful and continuous supply
Renewal that the dreamer receives rather than produces

⚠ When it is a warning

Deep calling unto deep at the noise of the waterspouts, where the sound of falling water pictures being overwhelmed — waves and billows going over the dreamer

How to tell the difference

Biblically, flowing water represents the Holy Spirit. The same waterfall can mean outpouring or overwhelming, and the dream's TONE decides which: awe and refreshing point to revival, dread and noise point to being overcome. Note whether the dreamer stands under it or is swept by it.

Scripture

Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me.
Psalm 42:7 (WEB)

¹He brought me back to the door of the temple; and behold, waters flowed out from under the threshold of the temple eastward, for the front of the temple faced toward the east. The waters came down from underneath, from the right side of the temple, on the south of the altar. ²Then he brought me out by the way of the gate northward, and led me around by the way outside to the outer gate, by the way of the gate that looks toward the east. Behold, waters ran out on the right side. ³When the man went out eastward with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the ankles. ⁴Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the knees. Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through waters that were to the waist.
Ezekiel 47:1-5 (WEB)

³⁸He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.” ³⁹But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.
