Altar of Incense in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Incense altar, Golden altar, Altar of gold
What it means
The prayer of a righteous person rising to God.
Worship ascending to God as a fragrance.
In Revelation 8 the incense and the prayers of the saints go up together, and the same censer is then filled with fire and cast to the earth.
✦ When it is positive
- Prayers that are a sweet fragrance to God
- Prayers received and answered
⚠ When it is a warning
- Incense rising together with thunder, lightning or earthquake, representing prayers of the saints that God has turned to judgment because of the world's continued unrepentance
How to tell the difference
Distinguish the ALTAR OF INCENSE (prayer and worship, gold, inside the holy place) from the BRAZEN ALTAR (sacrifice, bronze, in the outer court) and from an unnamed ALTAR, which may be a place of covenant made with something other than God.
Scripture
1“You shall make an altar to burn incense on. You shall make it of acacia wood. 2Its length shall be a cubit, and its width a cubit. It shall be square, and its height shall be two cubits. Its horns shall be of one piece with it. 3You shall overlay it with pure gold, its top, its sides around it, and its horns; and you shall make a gold molding around it. 4You shall make two golden rings for it under its molding; on its two ribs, on its two sides you shall make them; and they shall be for places for poles with which to bear it.

3Another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer. Much incense was given to him, that he should add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne. 4The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5The angel took the censer, and he filled it with the fire of the altar, then threw it on the earth. Thunders, sounds, lightnings, and an earthquake followed.
