Censer in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Incense burner, Fire pan, Golden censer
What it means
Devotion in prayer.
Devotion in worship — the vessel that carries the fire and the fragrance together.
The censer required fire taken from the altar. Strange fire offered in a censer brought immediate judgment on Nadab and Abihu.
✦ When it is positive
- Devotion in prayer
- Intercession that stands between the living and the dead, as Aaron's censer did in the plague
⚠ When it is a warning
- Religious practice without commitment
- Strange fire — devotion offered on the dreamer's own terms
How to tell the difference
The censer concerns the SOURCE of the fire as much as the act of burning. Note who holds it and where the coals came from. A censer emptied onto the earth signals prayers turned to judgment.
Scripture
1Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them. 2Fire came out from before the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
Leviticus 10:1-2 (WEB)
12He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil. 13He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the covenant, so that he will not die.
Leviticus 16:12-13 (WEB)
3Another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer. Much incense was given to him, that he should add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne. 4The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5The angel took the censer, and he filled it with the fire of the altar, then threw it on the earth. Thunders, sounds, lightnings, and an earthquake followed.
