Anchor in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Ship's anchor, Anchor of the soul
What it means
Hope; that which is steadfast and immovable.
Christ as a sure foundation; being unshaken when conditions are not calm.
The anchor holds precisely where it cannot be seen — its security is in what it grips, not in what is visible above the water.
✦ When it is positive
- Stability
- Assurance and security
- Hope that holds within the veil
⚠ When it is a warning
- An anchor cut loose or dragging, representing hope that is not fastened to anything sure
- An anchor that prevents necessary movement
How to tell the difference
Note whether the anchor is holding, dragging or being hauled up. An anchor raised may indicate a season of departure rather than a loss of hope. An anchor that will not lift may indicate something the dreamer is bound to that prevents progress.
Scripture
Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.
Acts 27:29 (WEB)
