Bathing in a River in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: River bath, Washing in a stream, Bathing in water, Washing in the river
What it means
Sanctification; God's spiritual cleansing and consecration.
The washing by the Word of God — sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth.
Naaman was cleansed only after washing in the Jordan seven times. The cleansing came through obedience to a plain instruction rather than through the water itself.
✦ When it is positive
- Being consecrated
- Sanctification
- Cleansing before service
⚠ When it is a warning
- A dark dream, mixed emotions, or dirty water, representing the entertaining of what will leave the dreamer vulnerable to spiritual attack
How to tell the difference
Distinguish this from Underwater. Bathing is a deliberate act of washing, and in a clean, bright setting it is consecration. But where the water is dirty or the dream is dark or gloomy, read it alongside Underwater, since the same river can be a place of cleansing or a place of marine activity depending on the setting.
Scripture
“‘When he who has a discharge is cleansed of his discharge, then he shall count to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes; and he shall bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.
Leviticus 15:13 (WEB)
10Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean.” 11But Naaman was angry, and went away and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.’ 12Aren’t Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. 13His servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had asked you do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?”
