Being Lost in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Disoriented, Not knowing the way, Lost, Cannot find the way

What it means

Living outside the faith; missing one's calling.

Separation from God.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant. The lost sheep in Scripture is sought, not abandoned — being lost is never the end of the account.

✦ When it is positive

  • The Good Shepherd going all the way to seek the lost sheep
  • Hope of restoration
  • Being found and carried home

⚠ When it is a warning

  • Being outside God's care and protection
  • Wandering without direction

How to tell the difference

Note whether anyone is searching for the dreamer, and whether the way is eventually found. A dream of being lost that ends with rescue is about the Shepherd; one that ends still lost is about a call to return.

Scripture

I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I don’t forget your commandments.

Psalm 119:176 (WEB)

“I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will feed them in justice.”’

Ezekiel 34:16 (WEB)

4“Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? 5When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.

Luke 15:4-7 (WEB)
