Cursing in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Pronouncing doom, Spoken malediction, Being cursed, A curse
What it means
A pronouncement of misfortune.
Words spoken with intent to bind or to bring harm.
As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. A curse without ground does not land.
✦ When it is positive
- A curse turned into a blessing, as God did for Israel when Balaam was hired against them
- Christ having been made a curse for us, so that the curse of the law has no claim
⚠ When it is a warning
- A pronouncement of misfortune spoken over the dreamer or by them
How to tell the difference
IN THE NEW TESTAMENT GOD DOES NOT CURSE ANYONE. In the African context, witches and witchcraft attempt to curse people, but this has no ground on a believer, provided they have not given an occasion — sometimes described as 'legal ground' — for it over their lives through temptation, deception or unrepented sin. Where a curse appears in a dream, the counsel is to examine for open ground and to stand in Christ, NOT to fear the pronouncement itself.
Scripture
How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? How shall I defy whom the LORD has not defied?
Numbers 23:8 (WEB)
Nevertheless the LORD your God wouldn’t listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because the LORD your God loved you.
Deuteronomy 23:5 (WEB)
Like a fluttering sparrow, like a darting swallow, so the undeserved curse doesn’t come to rest.
Proverbs 26:2 (WEB)
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”
Galatians 3:13 (WEB)
