Ephod in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Priestly vestment, High priest's ephod, Linen ephod

What it means

The priestly garment, representing the work of a high priest.

Carrying the sins and burdens of the people before God.

The ephod was how the priest represented the whole nation at once — the names of the tribes were carried on his shoulders and over his heart.

✦ When it is positive

  • Representing the people of God before God
  • Priestly intercession and mediation

⚠ When it is a warning

  • The old system of approaching God; what has become obsolete in Christ
  • An ephod made into an object of enquiry, becoming a snare

How to tell the difference

The blue in the vestment represents what is heavenly; the twelve stones on the breastplate represent the people of God in differing glories; the Urim and Thummim represent God's guidance and leadership. Note whether the dreamer wears the ephod or sees another wearing it.
