Hiding in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Concealment, Seeking shelter, Hidden, Taking cover

What it means

Being safely secured by God from an enemy, where the dream is dark, grey or fearful.

Hiding from people but not from harm represents depriving people of access to the dreamer or to their gifts.

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble. In Scripture the hiding place is a Person before it is a location.

✦ When it is positive

  • Being covered and preserved while a real threat is present
  • God's pavilion and the secret of His tabernacle

⚠ When it is a warning

  • The shame of disobedience, as when Adam hid himself from the presence of the Lord
  • Withholding oneself or one's gift from those who should have access to it

How to tell the difference

IMPORTANT DISTINCTION FROM UNDERWATER. In a concealment dream, a dark, grey or fearful setting identifies the THREAT the dreamer is being protected from — the darkness names the looming attack, and the hiding names God's covering over it. In a water dream, the same darkness identifies the KINGDOM being dealt with. Do not read a hiding dream as oppression simply because it is dark.

Scripture

They heard the LORD God’s voice walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3:8 (WEB)

For in the day of trouble, he will keep me secretly in his pavilion. In the secret place of his tabernacle, he will hide me. He will lift me up on a rock.

Psalm 27:5 (WEB)

You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Psalm 32:7 (WEB)
