Laver in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Brazen laver, Bronze basin, Washing basin, Brasen laver
What it means
The Word of God — the only vessel in the tabernacle given no measurements, representing the unbounded reach of God's Word.
A place of cleansing before spiritual service. The priests washed there before ministering, and again before approaching the altar.
The laver was made from the mirrors of the women who served at the door, so that the vessel of washing was also a vessel of seeing.
✦ When it is positive
- A place of cleansing
- Washing of water by the Word
- Preparation before service
⚠ When it is a warning
- Approaching ministry unwashed
- A laver empty or dry
How to tell the difference
The laver was made of bronze, which represents the dealing with and removal of sin. Its function is preparation, not sacrifice — distinguish it from the brazen altar, which is where the offering is killed, and from ordinary washing.
Scripture
18“You shall also make a basin of bronze, and its base of bronze, in which to wash. You shall put it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it. 19Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet in it. 20When they go into the Tent of Meeting, they shall wash with water, that they not die; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD. 21So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they not die. This shall be a statute forever to them, even to him and to his descendants throughout their generations.”
