Manna in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Bread from heaven, Daily bread, Angel's food

What it means

Daily provision, and fresh revelation measured for each day.

God's measured supply, sufficient for one day and no longer.

Manna kept overnight bred worms and stank. Yesterday's provision could not be stored to serve today's need.

✦ When it is positive

  • God's supply and provision
  • Fresh revelation
  • The daily Word of God

⚠ When it is a warning

  • Longing for the old diet of Egypt while despising the provision at hand
  • Stale manna, representing a spiritual diet that has not been renewed

How to tell the difference

Israel needed fresh manna each day, which points to the need for fresh revelation rather than repetition of what was received before. Note whether the manna is gathered, hoarded, refused or complained about — each says something different about the dreamer's relationship to provision.

Scripture

14When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground. 15When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat. 16This is the thing which the LORD has commanded: ‘Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.’” 17The children of Israel did so, and some gathered more, some less.

but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”

Numbers 11:6 (WEB)

31Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, ‘He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’” 32Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.” 34They said therefore to him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”
