Sacrifice in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Offering, Burnt offering, Making a sacrifice
What it means
Giving up something valuable; the offering of a life.
An offering; giving all one has to another.
Under the new covenant the sacrifice is the living body, presented rather than slain — a reasonable service rather than a ritual.
✦ When it is positive
- Giving up what one loves for another
- Greater commitment
- Honour and worship expressed at cost
⚠ When it is a warning
- Sacrifice offered to what is not God
- Loss of value with no purpose
- Sacrifice offered in place of obedience
How to tell the difference
Establish TO WHOM the sacrifice is made and WHAT is offered. Sacrifice at an unnamed altar, or involving blood, animals or a person, should be examined carefully rather than assumed to be worship. To obey is better than sacrifice.
Scripture
Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the LORD’s voice? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.
