Sex in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Sleeping with someone in a dream
What it means
Idolizing something that seeks to take God's place in your life; or spiritual unfaithfulness.
Can represent the sin of false worship (Ashtoreth/Molech) — the broader meaning of fornication as seen in 1 Corinthians 10:8.
For males with persistent wet dreams and females waking up wet: this may indicate lusts of the flesh entertained in thought patterns that have grown into soulish dreams — can attract spirits of oppression, damage relationships and marriages.
Sex consummates a covenant — "The man knew Eve his wife" (Genesis 4:1). A recurring demonic sexual dream is the enemy seeking an agreement ("Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?" Amos 3:3); for a believer it is a false covenant he is attempting, never a binding one.
Discernment: a warning from God leaves the dreamer at peace, without condemnation, and is unusual for them; an attack recurs, feels real and physical even after waking, and leaves the dreamer heavy, depressed or burdened.
⚠ When it is a warning
- Idolizing something above God (girlfriend, boyfriend, money, success, fame)
- Spiritual unfaithfulness
- Lusts of the flesh operating through soulish dreams
- Spirits of oppression
- An attempted false covenant (recurring, felt as physical, leaving heaviness)
How to tell the difference
The author strongly recommends pastoral counsel for persistent wet-dream experiences. Also cross-reference Cheating. Where attacks persist despite devotion and fasting, look at the mind (sexual content, seductive music, the language around you) and at the home (objects from traditional healers, horoscopes, astrology). Never leave the dreamer condemned — condemnation cripples faith.
Scripture
Let’s not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.
1 Corinthians 10:8 (WEB)
1Israel stayed in Shittim; and the people began to play the prostitute with the daughters of Moab; 2for they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods. The people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3Israel joined himself to Baal Peor, and the LORD’s anger burned against Israel. 4The LORD said to Moses, “Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up to the LORD before the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel.”
