Shield in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Protective shield, Buckler, Shield of faith

What it means

Divine protection and faith — a tool for defence, and God Himself as a personal refuge.

Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. God does not merely give a shield; He is one.

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

✦ When it is positive

  • The shield of faith
  • God protecting the dreamer
  • One's spiritual defence

⚠ When it is a warning

  • A shield laid down or cast away
  • Trusting armour rather than the One who gives it

How to tell the difference

Note whether the shield is CARRIED or ABANDONED, and whether it is the dreamer's own or given to them. The shield in Ephesians is specifically faith, and it is what quenches darts already in flight.
