Amputation in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Limb loss, Surgical removal, Losing a limb, Cut off limb

What it means

Being deprived; being incapacitated.

Loss of independence.

If thy hand offend thee, cut it off. Scripture also knows a severing that is chosen and costly but preserves the whole — the dream must show whether the loss is inflicted or accepted.

✦ When it is positive

A member willingly cut off to preserve the whole, representing a costly severance the dreamer has chosen

⚠ When it is a warning

Dependency
Not being in control
Capacity taken away

How to tell the difference

LOSING A LEG OR FOOT relates to the inability to move forward in life. LOSING AN ARM OR HAND relates to incapability — what affects the dreamer's actions or work. Note which limb, and whether the loss is inflicted by another or accepted by the dreamer.

Scripture

If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
Matthew 5:30 (WEB)

⁴³If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire, ⁴⁴‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’ ⁴⁵If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna, into the fire that will never be quenched—
Mark 9:43-45 (WEB)

⁶But Adoni-Bezek fled. They pursued him, caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his big toes. ⁷Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their big toes cut off, scavenged under my table. As I have done, so God has done to me.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
