Chain in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Metal links, Bonds of iron, Chains

What it means

Life — a chain represents the continuity and connectedness of life.

Can also represent bondage to a past cycle or demonic habit, or a link of authority.

BONDAGE: restriction, oppression, spiritual captivity, being taken, pride and sin.

In ancient times a chain about the neck was a BADGE OF HONOUR rather than bondage — Pharaoh put a gold chain on Joseph's neck.

✦ When it is positive

  • An intact chain = life and ongoing connection
  • A link of authority
  • On the neck of nobles, a badge of honour and office

⚠ When it is a warning

  • A breaking or broken chain = death approaching — pray immediately
  • Bondage to a past cycle or demonic habit
  • Spiritual bondage
  • Restriction and captivity

How to tell the difference

One of the life/death symbols drawn from Ecclesiastes 12:6. A chain represents life — when it breaks, it represents death. NOT EVERY CHAIN DREAM IS DEMONIC OPPRESSION. A chain about the neck may be honour and office. A chain may also represent the dreamer bound by unforgiveness, bitterness or hate rather than by an external spirit — note where the chain is and who placed it.
