Mud in a dream

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Mire, Clay pit, Miry clay, Muddy ground

What it means

The flesh; human struggle; living in sin.

Stagnancy and resistance to progress; what is demonic in its hold.

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock. Mud is where the feet cannot find footing.

✦ When it is positive

  • Jesus using mud to heal a blind man, representing God bringing healing out of what is unclean, and God's creative power
  • Being lifted out of the mire and set upon a rock

⚠ When it is a warning

  • Human struggle and resistance
  • Demonic resistance
  • A sinful manner of life
  • The washed sow returning to her wallowing in the mire

How to tell the difference

Falling into mud may represent falling into sin. If others are watching while the dreamer is muddied, it may represent humiliation. Note whether the dreamer is sinking, stuck, or being pulled out, and whether the mud is on the feet, the clothes or the face.

Scripture
