What it means

A fishing net represents the Kingdom of Heaven gathering all kinds; an ensnaring net represents a trap.

The dragnet gathers everything indiscriminately, and the separation happens afterwards on the shore, not in the water.

The same object can gather for salvation or entangle for harm, and the dream must show which.

How to tell the difference

If a person is setting the net — particularly someone the dreamer knows — this represents a trap laid by an enemy or by that person. If the dreamer is casting the net, it concerns their own labour and gathering. Note whether the dreamer is inside the net or holding it.
