What it means

Operating under a curse; toiling, hustling, striving; effort-based work; the work of the flesh.

Struggling; working outside of the blessing.

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread. Sweat entered with the curse, and the priests were commanded not to gird themselves with anything that causeth sweat.

How to tell the difference

ONE EXCEPTION MUST BE HELD: Christ's sweat in Gethsemane as it were great drops of blood was not the work of the flesh but agony borne in prayer. Where the dream shows sweat in prayer or travail rather than in labour, read it as intercession, not striving.
