Missed Call in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Missed a call, Unanswered call, Call I did not answer
What it means
An unanswered divine call; failing to recognise a divine assignment.
A missed spiritual message; a lost divine revelation; being distracted from hearing God's voice.
Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him. He heard the call three times without recognising whose it was.
✦ When it is positive
- Recognising, as Samuel finally did, that the voice is the Lord's — Speak, for thy servant heareth
⚠ When it is a warning
- A missed spiritual opportunity
- An unidentified divine calling
- An unanswered spiritual summons
- Not recognising God's voice
How to tell the difference
Samuel's account shows the call REPEATED until it was recognised. A missed-call dream is therefore usually an invitation still open rather than an opportunity finally lost. Note who the caller is and whether the dreamer calls back.
Scripture
1The child Samuel ministered to the LORD before Eli. The LORD’s word was rare in those days. There were not many visions, then. 2At that time, when Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim, so that he could not see), 3and God’s lamp hadn’t yet gone out, and Samuel had laid down in the LORD’s temple where God’s ark was, 4The LORD called Samuel. He said, “Here I am.”
