Reflection in a dream
Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa
Also: Mirror image, Water reflection, Seeing yourself, Own reflection
What it means
Self-examination — the projection of oneself in the light of the Word of God.
Spiritual introspection; one's true condition revealed by the light of the Word.
Beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, we are changed into the same image. What a person gazes at is what they come to resemble.
✦ When it is positive
- The reflection of God's glory
- One's true condition seen honestly
⚠ When it is a warning
- Looking at oneself in the reflection and going away and forgetting what manner of person one was
How to tell the difference
The mirror in James shows a man who SEES and then FORGETS. Note whether the dreamer acts on what the reflection reveals. A reflection that does not match the dreamer, or moves independently, is a different matter and should be examined with care.
Scripture
23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; 24for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:23-25 (WEB)
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known.
1 Corinthians 13:12 (WEB)
But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (WEB)
