Imbiza: meaning in the Bible and in dreams

Biblical meaning from Hearing God's Voice in Dreams by Apostle Nicholas V. Mbanjwa

Also: Iyeza, Traditional mixture, Herbal mixture, Traditional medicine pot

What is imbiza?

Imbiza means “pot” in isiZulu. It is also the name of a traditional herbal mixture brewed in a pot and drunk for cleansing or healing (also called iyeza).

In the Bible, mixing tradition with the worship of God is warned against: “What agreement does a temple of God have with idols?” (2 Corinthians 6:16). A mixture is precisely the problem: what is added is not neutral.

In a dream, imbiza usually signals mixture and compromise rather than outright rejection of God. The full meaning follows below.

What it means in a dream

Spiritual defilement, spiritual compromise and syncretism.

Compromising — the mixing of tradition with God.

A mixture is precisely the problem: what is added is not neutral, and the whole is no longer what it was.

⚠ When it is a warning

  • A warning against traditional beliefs or a mentality that will cost the dreamer spiritually

How to tell the difference

Imbiza in a dream usually signals MIXTURE rather than outright rejection of God — the dreamer may be holding both at once without realising it. Note who administers it and whether the dreamer drinks.

Scripture

10There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who tells fortunes, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, 11or a charmer, or someone who consults with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12For whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD. Because of these abominations, the LORD your God drives them out from before you.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (WEB)

14Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? 15What agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what portion does a believer have with an unbeliever? 16What agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk in them. I will be their God and they will be my people.” 17Therefore “‘Come out from among them, and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you.

2 Corinthians 6:14-17 (WEB)

19Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, 20idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, 21envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom.
