Hearing God's Voice in Dreams

Effective date: 15 July 2026 · Amended 22 July 2026 (voice input clarification)

This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, protect, and share your personal information when you use Hearing God's Voice in Dreams (the "App"), available at hearinggodsvoiceindreams.co.za. It is issued in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").

We understand that the dreams you share with us are deeply personal. We treat them with the care that trust deserves.

1. Who we are

Nicholas Vuyisanani Lusawana (who writes under the pen name Nicholas V. Mbanjwa), trading as a sole proprietor from Krugersdorp, Gauteng, South Africa, is the Responsible Party for your personal information under POPIA.

Information Officer: Nicholas Vuyisanani Lusawana

All privacy questions, data access requests, and deletion requests should be sent to the email address above.

3. Special personal information — and why we ask your consent

POPIA gives extra protection to certain categories of information, including a person's religious or philosophical beliefs and information about their health or wellbeing.

Because the App interprets dreams through a biblical and spiritual framework, and because dreams may reveal a person's beliefs, emotional state, or private struggles, the information you share may qualify as special personal information.

For this reason:

4. Why we process your information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your dream content with anyone for advertising or marketing.

5. Who processes your information on our behalf

We use trusted service providers ("Operators" under POPIA) to run the App. Each processes information only as needed to deliver the service, and is bound to keep it confidential.

ProviderWhat they doWhat they handle
SupabaseDatabase, accounts, sign-in emailsEmail address, dream content, subscription status
AnthropicAI processing that produces your interpretationDream text. Our access is under Anthropic's Commercial Terms, which provide that inputs and outputs from the Anthropic API are not used to train their models.
NetlifyWebsite hosting and server functionsIP address, server logs
PayFastPayment processingYour payment details (collected directly by them; we never see them)

A note on voice input: when you use the optional "Speak your dream" feature, the speech-to-text conversion is performed by your own device's speech service (such as Google or Apple dictation), not by us or by any of the providers above. That service acts on your instruction, under your agreement with your device vendor — we never receive or handle your audio, only the text it produces.

6. Cross-border transfer of information

Your information is processed on servers located outside South Africa.

Our service providers listed above operate infrastructure in other countries, including the European Union and the United States. This means your personal information — including your dream content — is transferred across borders.

We have taken reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that these providers are subject to data protection laws or binding agreements that provide a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA, as required by section 72 of the Act.

By creating an account and using the App, you consent to this cross-border transfer. If you are not comfortable with it, please do not submit dreams to the App.

7. How long we keep your information

InformationHow long we keep it
Your dreams and interpretationsUntil you delete them, or until you ask us to close your account
Account information (email, subscription status)For as long as your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and accounting obligations
Processing records (temporary job records)Approximately 30 days, then deleted
Server logs containing IP addressesA short period for security purposes, then discarded

You are in control of your dream journal. Every dream in your journal has a delete option, and deleting a dream removes it permanently from our database — not just from your screen.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it so it can no longer be linked to you.

8. How we protect your information

We take the security of your dreams seriously, and we apply the safeguards required by section 19 of POPIA, including:

No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information as if it were our own, and we will notify you and the Information Regulator if a breach ever occurs that puts your information at risk, as POPIA requires.

9. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email nicholasvmbanjwa@gmail.com. We will respond as promptly as we reasonably can, and within any period required by law. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

10. Children

The App is intended for users aged 18 and over. A person under 18 may only use the App with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect information from a child without such consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Direct marketing

We will not send you marketing messages without your consent. Service messages relating to your account — such as sign-in confirmations, payment receipts, or important notices about the App — are not marketing and may be sent as part of providing the service. You can ask us to stop sending marketing at any time.

12. Complaints

If you have any concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at nicholasvmbanjwa@gmail.com. We would genuinely like the chance to put things right.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint directly with:

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Any material change will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent again.
